I switched my telephone service from Comcast to Vonage. Just as good service for less money. Problem:When Vonage contacted Comcast to have my phone service discontinued, evidently they got PO'd and turned off my internet also. They came to my home and picked up my modem without leaving another one. Doug went there to get a modem and they refused to give him one compatible with phone. Said that was for Comcast Digital Voice customers only. So I went to Circuit City and bought a modem. Wouldn't connect to the internet. So I called Comcast. They told me my internet had been canceled. I hit the roof! They reconnected my service and asked for the MAC ID off the bottom of the modem. I gave it to them. Still no internet, hence, no phone. I called them back, gave them the number again, and got transferred to south Florida! Finally I got hold of someone here. They said there must be a problem in the line and it would be Wednesday before they could get out to fix it. So the guy finally came out today, called in the number again and voila! It works! Go figure. I will never again recommend Comcast for a dog! After over 20 years of service with them and never being late on a payment, all that crap is ridiculous!
So I've been taking my laptop to work with me and checking to see if my license for my RN has gone through yet. As of 3AM yesterday morning, it still wasn't there. I went to Mama's and got on her computer last night. THERE IT WAS! I'm legal now! I was jumping up and down and squealing all over the place and she got upset with me, it seemed. Not quite as happy as me, I guess. I came home and told Doug and he didn't seem real excited either. I told him that I guess no one could be as excited as me because they didn't know how hard I worked for it. He said he knew how hard I'd worked and I told him no one could know unless they had done it. So many times I was so stressed out I wanted to quit but wouldn't. I was so happy that I made a picture of the computer screen:
I know, stupid, but I did it anyway.

Does your Vonage work ok??? Do you like it? Did you have to buy a cable modem or a Vonage adaptor???
Vonage sent me the router but Comcast was a real butt and wouldn't let me have a modem that was compatible for a phone. So I sent Doug to circuit city to buy one. But that's okay. Comcast is losing money now as not only am I not paying for phone, I'm not paying rent on modem, and I'm getting internet for 19.99/mo for 6 months. Vonage works just as good as the comcast. In fact, I like it a little more. Can't wait til we get our free stuff.
Comcast sucks and always has. Not because of their service, but because of their attitude and whole mindset that their the best. You've got every right to toot your own horn, and to be proud of what you've accomplished. You've worked really hard for it. We knew you could and would do it. We are proud of you Vicks!
Thanks Robert. I did work hard, but I couldn't have done it without the love and support of my family and friends and people encouraging me and telling me they knew I could do it. And of course, God had a lot to do with it. Without him, I couldn't do anything. And your right...Comcast's attitude is bad.
